St.Vincent DePaul Rehabilitation

Problem: At St.Vincent DePaul Rehabilitation, traditional government funding was inadequate to support the job placement needs of hundreds of individuals with disabilities who wanted to work and contribute.

Solution: We created a fee-based business using the temporary employment service model. Employers paid for screened, well matched employees who got the chance to experience new work settings and jobs. Employees could work long term in job assignments or in many cases get hired by the employer at the end of the assignment.

Result: As many as 600 individuals with disabilities were employed. Need for government subsidy was minimized, partially replaced by employers’ fee payments. This model was adopted by non-profits around the country and is regularly used today.
